An Unusual Journey
During the COVID era, we set out on an ambitious journey—sailing non-stop from Sydney to Germany. The open sea stretched endlessly before us, a path of adventure and resilience. But just days into our voyage, the unseen force of the pandemic caught up with us. Cases emerged among passengers, and our journey was abruptly halted. What was meant to be an uninterrupted passage across oceans became a story of uncertainty, adaptation, and an unexpected turn of fate.
Golf de San Miguel
As we traveled along the west coast of South America, we had the privilege of visiting the Emberá tribe in the Golfo de San Miguel. Arriving by boat, we were welcomed by the community with warmth and curiosity. Their traditional way of life, deeply connected to nature, offered us a glimpse into a world far removed from modern distractions. We listened to their stories, watched intricate handicrafts come to life, and experienced their music and dance—expressions of a rich cultural heritage. It was a remarkable visit, one that left us with a profound appreciation for their traditions and resilience.
Puerto Caldera Chile
Puerto Caldera, located in Chile’s Atacama region, serves as an important gateway for maritime trade and local fishing. Though often overshadowed by larger cities, its rugged coastline and working harbor offer an authentic glimpse into everyday life by the sea. Our visit was a fascinating encounter with the simple yet dynamic beauty of this coastal town.
Geiranger
Geirangerfjord is one of Norway’s most breathtaking natural wonders, a place where steep, green mountains plunge dramatically into deep, glacial waters. As the ship glides through the fjord, towering cliffs rise on both sides, adorned with cascading waterfalls like the famous Seven Sisters and the Suitor. The small village of Geiranger, nestled at the end of the fjord, serves as a gateway to panoramic viewpoints and winding mountain roads.
